Idukki collector Raju Narayana Swami transferred

Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, 26 September: In a major blow to the ongoing probe in the illegal land dealings in Idukki the district collector Raju Narayanswamy was transferred from Idukki to Pathanamthitta, the official announcement was made by Chief Minister Achuthanandan today Pathanamthitta collector Ashok kumar sinha will now be the collector of Idukki. However Achuthanandan denied that the decision was made under intese political pressure from within the party and allies.

Raju Narayana Swami had unearthed irregularities in the Rs19 crore agreement in which the former PWD Minister T.U.Kuruvilla and his family was involved, and which led to the resignation of Minister.


Narayanaswamy’s report to the Chief Minister against the alleged irregularities in land dealings of relatives of former PWD Minister T U Kuruvilla, landed the minister in a tight-spot culminating in his resignation on September 3.

Kuruvilla’s name was not mentioned in the report, but what was clearly mentioned was that the minister’s son, Eldo Kuruvilla, had allegedly threatened the village officer of Rajakumari village for “manipulating” records.

“There was blatant violation of rules, the property had been undervalued,” Narayanaswamy said, adding Government land had been shown to have been purchased. He said on a single day Kuruvilla had rung him up 19 times from different mobiles asking him not to take steps against his relatives.
