The Chief Minister, Shri V. S. Achuthanandan, laid the foundation
stone for Technopark Kollam, the first district-level Technopark in the
State in a function presided over by M.A Baby, Hon'ble Minister for Education.
Shri K P Rajendran, Hon'ble Minister for Revenue,Shri Mathew T Thomas, Hon'ble
Minister for Transport, Printing & Stationery,Shri Mons Joseph, Hon'ble
Minister for Works,Shri P K Gurudasan, Hon'ble Minister for Labour & Excise
also addressed the function. Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS , Secretary (IT) furnished
a detailed report on Kollam Park and Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharya, CEO, Technopark
proposed the vote of thanks on this historic moment of IT in Kerala.
The park which will be managed by Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, will come
up on 40 acres of land at Kundara in Kollam. The first phase of the park
will be completed by the middle of 2010 and will involve an investment of
around Rs 1,000 crore. The park in Kollam will initially have around 100,000
sq feet of built-up space and will also offer developed plots varying in
size from 2 acres to 5 acres.

Can Fin Homes cuts home loan rates

Can Fin Homes Ltd. (CFHL), a subsidiary of Canara Bank, today announced a reduction in their interest rates on existing individual variable rate housing loans to 10.75% with immediate effect.
The new variable rates for all fresh variable rate loans are 10.25% for loans up to Rs 5 lakh, 10.50% for loans above Rs 5 lakh and below Rs 30 lakh, and 11% for loans above Rs 30 lakh. The revised rate of interest on fixed rate loans is 12.50 per cent.
The reduced rates are applicable for all repayment periods, a statement issued by Canara Bank said.

Kannur International Airport
The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for setting up of a Greenfield International Airport through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) at Kannur, Kerala.
The decision for setting of a Greenfield International Airport will meet requirements of increasing air traffic in that region.
The airport will be built over 2000 acres of land and will have a single runway. The project would be implemented through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) route. The total project cost is Rs. 929.5 crores.

Brahmos cruise missiles to be assembled in Kerala

Keltec, a state public sector unit here, would start assembling Brahmos supersonic missile in three years, said A. Sivathanu Pillai, MD and CEO of Brahmos Aerospace, here Sunday. The unit would be renamed as Brahmos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd.'We are taking over Keltec and tomorrow (Monday) Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan would hand over the unit to the Defence Minister A.K. Antony,' Pillai told reporters at the campus of the unit.
