Court dismissed former Kerala Minister's petition

Chennai (PTI): A local court here on wednesday dismissed a petition by former PWD Minister of Kerala, P J Joseph, seeking exemption from personal appearance in a sexual harassment case,

Alandur Judicial Magistrate Ramanathan also posted to July 20, further hearing in the case. The Airport police, who are handling the case, sought a copy of Kerala IG B Sandhya's Inquiry report into the matter.

Joseph is charged with sexually harassing a private news channel's newsreader in midflight during September 2006. The victim had preferred a complaint with the Airport police who had filed chargesheet against Joseph under various IPC sections.

Following the allegation, the Kerala Congress (J) leader quit the Ministry and the Kerala Government ordered an Inquiry by Sandhya into the episode.
