Thiruvananthapuram, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has ordered an enquiry by the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau against former Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Adoor Prakash.
The enquiry was ordered on the basis of preliminary investigation into a complaint filed by the Pulses and Spices Suppliers Association alleging corruption in certain purchases made by the State Civil Supplies Corporation when Prakash had been the Minister in charge of the Corporation.
The Director General of Police (Vigilance), who conducted the preliminary enquiry, had recommended the Vigilance probe.
Prakash was Minister in the United Democratic Front Government led by Oommen Chandy (2005-2006).
